Millions of tonnes of household waste could be saved from landfill each year if we all made the most of our compost, according to the Recycle Now campaign, launching this year’s Compost Awareness Week which runs from 3-9 May.


WasteAware Secondary School Education Programme 2009

Following a successful 2008 campaign the WasteAware Partnership is pleased to announce that the secondary school education programme will be repeated for 2009. However, for 2009 the theme will be litter and rubbish. The programme will enable Year 8 and Year 9 pupils in 30 Hertfordshire schools to view the CragRats "Litter is Rubbish" theatre production and to produce their own Litter Awareness project to encourage other students, friends and families to keep Hertfordshire tidy! After a successful second run of WasteAware's 'Talking Trash' school plays, Mount Grace School in Potters Bar emerged triumphant, scooping the £1,000 first prize in the waste-awareness raising competition for Hertfordshire secondary school students.
