Books

Books of saleable quality can often be taken to a charity shop for reuse. For example, Oxfam's second hand stores all accept books.
Our recycling / disposal advice
Any book of saleable quality can be deposited at one of Hertfordshire's book banks so it can be re-used. All of Hertfordshire's book banks are provided and run by Oxfam, and the books left at the banks can be purchased at Oxfam shops, book stores and gift shops.
At book banks in the areas of St Albans, Bishops Stortford, Letchworth and Watford, books, videos, DVDs, cassettes and CDs can all be left in the banks.
The book banks in Stevenage take books only.
For those of you who are keen to recycle as much as possible, books of a quality not suitable for re-sale can still be partially recycled. Unfortunately the spine and covers can not be recycled due to the contaminating effect of the glue, but the pages can be. Simply cut out the pages (leaving a space before the spine) and place in any of the paper banks at the Household Waste Recycling Centres and recycling points around the county.
