Will you be watching your waste this Christmas?
It is expected that as a nation this Christmas, we will consume over 750,000 tonnes of Christmas pudding, buy 55,000 tonnes of turkey and 175 million mince pies. We will throw away 83 square kilometres of wrapping paper and post more than 150 million greetings cards.

The Hertfordshire WasteAware Partnership successfully launched the Key Stage 2 'Challenge Waste!' education pack at Wheathampstead Development Centre on May 19th.
Hert's residents are picking up the rubbish message!
While Hertfordshire is above the national average in the recycling stakes, four in five residents are concerned about the levels of household waste produced and want to do more to reduce it, according to the most recent WasteAware campaign survey.
Hertfordshire winning war on waste
Hertfordshire has come up trumps in the recycling stakes. The county council and the ten district and borough councils working in partnership, have not only met Government targets to recycle or compost 20 per cent of Hertfordshire's household waste in 2003/4, they have exceeded it.
Herts residents cotton on to real nappies
Hertfordshire residents have been a lot less sniffy about using real nappies on their babies since the launch of WasteAware's re-usable nappy cashback scheme in March.
