The Recycling Olympics – Bring home the gold for your school

With the London 2012 Olympic Games set to be the greenest games yet, now is a great opportunity to introduce your students to environmental matters including the topic of waste.

WasteAware at Hertfordshire Waste Partnership want to help you do this. In partnership with ecoSERVICES, we have designed a competition to offer you the opportunity to have your own Olympic legacy in your school.

How do you get involved?

It's easy; with the theme of recycling as inspiration, ask your students to 'design a bench' for your school grounds, the more creative the better! Encourage your students to use colour as ecoSERVICES can make benches is many different colours, shapes and sizes.

The winning bench design will be made for the winning school free of charge, and what's even better is that the bench will be made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and packaging.

You might want to take a look at ecoSERVICES website www.outdoorplasticfurniture.co.uk to see the range of products they can supply, and the range of colours and designs that can be created.

The Sunshine Range is designed with primary schools in mind and is really bright and cheerful.

This is a fantastic opportunity for your students to get creative while learning about recycling. We've included some resources to help you introduce the topic of recycling in a fun and interactive way. So get pledging to recycle your plastic bottles, take the waste knowledge quiz and learn some wacky waste facts!
