Recycling in your school
The following are some of the ways you can start recycling in your school:
- Paper Recycling: Contact your Local District/Borough Council to see if there is a kerbside collection scheme in your area, which you could be included in. If not they will direct you to the Apsley Paper Trail in Hemel Hempstead, which is currently running a project, which collects school's paper for free for local recycling. Please call them on 01442 234600 for further details.
- Drinks Cans: To recycle cans, contact Gerry Gilham on 01923 220411. He runs a can-recycling scheme in most parts of the county and will collect for free.
- Composting: To compost uncooked waste from break times (e.g. apple cores/banana skins and tea bags) a composter or wormery can be used. You can buy a subsidised home composter through our Hertfordshire offer. Details can be found on our composting advice page.
